When are you legally required to use this product?
The Netherlands and the EU
In the Netherlands and the rest of the EU, a legal marking requirement applies to all vehicles with a maximum mass above 3,500 kg and a length of more than 6 metres. This is laid down in European directive 76/756/EEC and ECE-R70, and applies to caravans, lorries, semi-trailers, trailers and heavy vans on public roads. Vehicles without valid marking risk a driving ban and a fine during a roadside inspection.
Spain
Spain applies additional national rules. Under Article V-6 (Vehículo Largo), the ECE-70 marking is also mandatory in Spain for vehicles and combinations longer than 12 metres, regardless of weight. This applies to both Spanish and foreign vehicles and has been in force since April 2011. Please note: in a number of other EU countries it is prohibited to carry this marking on combinations under 3,500 kg. For caravans travelling to Spain, the magnetic version is the most practical choice.
The aluminium version suits vehicles in daily use where a fixed, vibration-resistant mounting is required.
